Why We Our Love For Robot Vac (And You Should Also!)

Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum is able to keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency at which you'll need to manually vacuum. Choose one that has an easy navigation, can clean corners and stairs, and has a large dust bin that needs emptying only periodically.

There are models that clean and charge on their own, a feature that may be essential for those who have pets or kids. A lot of the top performers in our tests also offer decent obstacle-avoiding capabilities.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO are both identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good option for those who want a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dust bin after it has filled up.

Both robots are adept at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors, and they're very adept at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. The i3+ isn't able to feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested. It can get stuck on power cords and socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces, like rug and hardwood.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also recommended to keep the bin and filter clear so they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and takes the dirt out of the docking station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it began. The battery's lifespan is around an hour-and-a-half of continuous usage. It takes three hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest technology. It's self-charging, self-navigating and -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, which lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot via the app or via voice.

The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin which eliminates a major source of maintenance and cuts down on the amount of time spent cleaning.

see this here  were also impressed by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to start or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car that is amidst a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens and expels cleaner air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets, and then pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum, and then back to floor.

This model comes with a dock which charges the Dyson to 100 percent within 3.5 hours. It also provides easy access to 2 attachments as well as an handheld. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main issue with the V10 is its limited running time. The tests conducted by CR show that its claims to run up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a common battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. It's enough time to clean a typical-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every spot. (A second pass generally works). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in a robot. It was able to pick up all kinds of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area several times to give an extensive clean. Its flat front side helps to get into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice touch.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it lacks the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. It is prone to getting stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and is often unable to supply power before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, because it has a longer battery life, has the ability to alter its suction power mode manually, comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy and has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on both bare floors and low-pile carpet, while providing a wider array of features for automation.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has a cutting-edge onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app provides plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings, and much more. It's easy to comprehend and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our testing, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. It was not as successful in avoiding taller objects like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models that we tested, and this could be a problem for some buyers.

see this here  lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature lets you monitor your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The filter and dustbin can be cleaned for quick, painless cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that self-empties and helps keep the robot's trash bin clean and maximizes suction power for each cleaning.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for hard flooring. They have an extra wide cleaning path, as well as dust bins that are 2X bigger than the competitors. This lets them clean the area for longer. They also have two side sweepers to clean along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also includes AutoSense technology, which can tell whether it's picking up surface litter or embedded dirt and automatically adjusts the power level. The vacuum also has an app that allows users to see an interactive map, control functions, and set schedules. Plus, you can monitor the status of the vacuum's battery and send it back to its dock to charge at the touch of the button. The app allows you to personalize the lights on top of the vacuum with different colors, so that you can easily identify what areas it's focusing on or where it's stuck.

The app also makes it simple to steer the robot manually if needed. For instance my living room rug has a darkly colored border that can make it difficult for other robots I've tested. However, the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
